I think it would be neat for everyone to submit their podcasts, blogs, and other new media spots to a master list. It's amazing how many different things people are doing...why not share. I still stumble upon different things from people I know...but didn't know they were doing?!

Has 10/18 been confirmed as the date of our next meetup? I missed the last one, so I'm anxious! :D

10/18/2008 2-4 PM at The Pub at Rookwood Mews (same place as the September meetup). I guess I need to add it to the regular channels, huh?

I finally got a beta invite to Dropbox, so I have 5 invites to pass along. If you want one, post a reply with your email address in this thread. First 5 replies will receive an invitation. Anyone who signs up will have 10 invites themselves to share if they want to. (I invited a few family members who never backup, so that's why I only have 5 left.)
If you don't know what it is, check it out here: http://www.getdropbox.com Basically, it's seamless automatic sync/backup of your files to as many computers as you want. It's great if you work on the same files on more than one computer, which I do often. You don't have to lift a finger and you'll always be working on the latest version. Files are kept on Amazon S3, so it's super fast. Free accounts (that's all there is for now) come with 2 gigs of space.

Hello all. I found this site though Daniel. Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Shaun, and I own and run the site, Microblogging.com. Its a social news site focusing on the latest news and events from the microblogging world. I just launched it recently, and I hope to add more features in the near future.
It's good to meet some people in the Dayton-Cincinnati area who are involved in Social Media. Its a pleasure meeting you all.
Regards,
Shaun Morton Microblogging.com

We have a lot of talent in this group. What ideas do you have for something we can do for our community that would best use our talents? What can you offer? Discuss in this thread.

I see a free or low cost event that is a festival, learning experience. Get businesses and creative professionals involved and find the right venue. All media and all types. Each member presenting on their expertise.

What kind of unconference would YOU like to see in Cincinnati?
If we opt to do a Podcamp (http://www.podcamp.org), I strongly believe it shouldn't interfere with Podcamp Ohio 2 (http://www.podcampohio.com), tentatively scheduled for June 20, 2009. Moreover, we must follow the rules of Podcamp. Some have suggested that we do a New Media Cincinnati-branded unconference. What do you think? Leave your comments in the discussion below.

Why and unconference and not a Conference? Half of the "un"-conferences are charging fees to cover the floor space, etc. Why not set up a real, professional confernce. The "Mid-West New Media Conference" or "NMC Central" or "Social and New Media Expo" - Tons of time spent setting up an "Un"conference goes into finding a free or cheap venue, free or cheap stuff, etc. Charge a small fee ($100 or less) Sell vendor booth space ($100's to $1000s) and ensure that you have the resources to do it right and GROW it for the future. If all goes well the first year, then it may need some paid staff and viola! I've found Dan a new Job!
